VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is a vital part of community building.
It brings people together who are committed to achieving the shared outcome
of making their community a better place for all.
Meals On Wheels
At some point all lives will be touched by hardship. In those moments, Meals on Wheels exists to provide the comfort of healthy nutritious meals. We will all face challenging times, but we don’t have to do it on an empty stomach.
Mosquito Creek Foundation is proud to provide seniors in the community of Nanton with a noon meal that is prepared by our kitchen staff in the Silver Willow Lodge.
The Meals on Wheels program is approved by Alberta Home Care Service.
Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) arranges and provides the program with volunteer drivers for delivery of these meals throughout the community 7 days a week.
The Trishaw Bike
Using a specialized electric pedal-assisted trishaws each bicycle can carry up to two passengers on an adventure previously unimagined.
Local volunteers called ‘pilots’ visit care homes, senior centers and community groups to offer rides on the trishaw.
Being outdoors, reconnecting in the community and with the ‘pilots’ nurtures emotional well-being.
Cycling Without Age Canada (CWACA) is a national organization aimed at reducing social isolation and increasing both mental and physical health for all Canadians.
Our Nanton TriShaw Bike is available to all Nanton residents!
Income Tax Program
This program is designed for those individuals who are unable to complete their own income tax returns. It runs from March 1 through to April 30 annually.
If community members meet the income eligibility criteria, they may be eligible to have their Income Tax returns completed through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
Volunteers are needed to complete simple Income Tax returns for those individuals who qualify for the program.
